Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of riding with Phil Keoghan from The Amazing Race on his venture across the US. I rode 50 miles with Phil and of all people, 2-time Olympian in ’68 and ‘72 John Vande Velde (father of Christian Vande Velde 4th overall in the Tour de France in 2008).

The ride was to inform the masses and raise $500,000. For MS. We rode on some of the worst roads with one of the nastiest headwind I have ridden in a long time. Phil is a hammer on the bike with his nose in the wind for a lot of the ride. We had a follow van with trailer and a lead moto the entire way.

We started with 25 or so riders and we quickly lost all but the three of us. I had a really enjoyable time with my two riding partners. We enjoyed a nice lunch from California Pizza Company and we had a few of the initial riders meet us and we proceeded to ride a ways back to one of the guys car and we decided to drive back thankfully.

And if you look carefully you can see an Orange Blur kit being worn proudly.
